Influence is all around us. People strive for favor with fickle man. But favor in God’s eyes is greater than man’s prize. Don’t let others influence you against others. May we be influencers for righteousness, not sin.
Slaughtered animals and splattered blood are a vivid reminder of the cost of our sins. Our natural bent is to drift away from God. The struggle with sin is real. Sin separates us from God, but Christ bridges that chasm. The cost of that salvation was great. God did not save us so we would be worldly, but other-worldly. So God could live among us. The proof of our salvation is the presence of God, friends. May we live in such a way that people sense God’s presence and find redemption for their souls, too.
How are you fighting? You are in the fight of your life for your life, whether you know it or not. Worldly weapons can’t win fights we don’t see. And we will need to know the battle in order to form a battle plan. Strongholds of human reasoning false arguments keep people from knowing God. This is a battle worth waging. Behind each obstacle and each human enemy is the real enemy. Our battle is spiritual and the battle is in our mind. Get up and fight, friends. But fight with truth and grace.
Life has many troubles and temptations. But we get to choose. Don’t let hardship throw you off mission. Stay on mission, friends. Prove what you believe by how you live. Walk the walk and talk the talk. The enemy will twist Scripture and life will throw many curve balls our direction, but if we persevere we save ourselves and our hearers.
When we don’t understand God’s ways or judgments, we know His character. Don’t let hard circumstances confuse you about God’s character. He is the same, good God. Accusations about God come from false notions about God and our expectations that don’t line up with reality. When we are tempted to judge a just God we just might find ourselves judged. And when we come to judge Him because our lives aren’t perfect, we may have idols in the way. Like Job, we don’t have everything figured out, but we can trust God. Trusting in self or outcomes will leave us disillusioned.
